I'm grading history papers right now. It's a bloodbath! And it's not like they didn't know the test was coming, or something. It wasn't even that hard.

Here is a story from one of my colleagues who teaches History-

She gives the kids maps and they have to label the continents and some territories.
Some are not quite getting it.
She says "All you have to do is find the continents and oceans"
One student still looks lost
"Ok, you can ask a partner for help"
This student asks the kid next to him for clarification "I know where the oceans are but I don't know how to find the continents"
His partner replies "Continents man, you know like continents and vowels!"

I never got how people didn't like history. They might like it more with its more correct title, "Shit that ALREADY HAPPENED that created you, you whiny jackass".

In my freshman history course a girl didn't think there was air in the rain forest. How stupid can some people be. When I asked why she thought there was no air in the forest she stated since the tree tops were so close together there would be no room for air.

Because most history is taught wrong. It's taught like a memorization test, when in reality, it should be taught like a cause-and-effect course, like sociology.

That's what I do. Cause and effect and also making them think on their own.

King appoints Bishops. Pope gets angry, throws him out of church. He has to come begging to get back in. Do you think he now stops appointing Bishops? etc.
